The Stables Tearoom
All food served in the Stables Tearoom is locally sourced and freshly made each day including light lunches, a great selection of cakes, scones and traybakes, delicious coffee and cold drinks. We serve Pilgrims Coffee, locally roasted on Holy Island, and delicious ice-creams from Doddington Dairy in the Glendale valley.
There's no need for pre-booking for items from the daily menu whenever you visit us, but you will need to pre-book our special celebration afternoon tea. Dogs are welcome in the Courtyard or Harness Room.

Eat In or Takeaway
You can eat in or take away from the Stables Tearoom, cosy up in one of our quaint stalls, take a window seat and enjoy views over the front of the house, pick a bench in our lovely courtyard or make the most of exploring our glorious grounds and gardens and take away some goodies to eat whilst out and about!
Dog friendly
We are definitely dog-friendly! The tearoom has plenty of outside seating on six picnic tables in our lovely sheltered courtyard, where dogs are welcome. If it’s wet, retreat to our cosy Harness Room which is perfect for humans and their furry friends to sit inside. Please keep your dog on a lead and be sensitive to other guests, furry and human.
History of the Stables Tearoom
The Stables Tearoom at Paxton House has found a home in the Georgian East Wing of the house which was the original stable used by the Home family horses. In its bright modern interior, the tearoom retains many of the original stable fittings including the painted stalls where once the family hunters, carriage and riding ponies were housed. Today these stalls make rather good partitions between tables while the tables in the open area of the room have a view across the entrance courtyard of the house to the Georgian kitchen in the West Wing.
