Paxton House is not just a stunning Georgian house but a place originally built for romance. Its creator, Patrick Home, had fallen in love and the beautiful home he started on the banks of the River Tweed now provides a dream setting for 21st century love stories.

Celebrate at Paxton House

Seven different settings within our stunning 80 acre grounds and beautifully manicured gardens will help you create a day with a unique character that suits you and your budget. We can host up to 200 guests for wedding ceremonies, breakfasts and receptions or for special events to mark any occasion; Mix and match between different venue spaces to suit your day. Paxton House is on the Scotland/England border, equidistant from Edinburgh and Newcastle and only a few miles from the A1 and Berwick Upon Tweed’s national rail links.

Paxton House was our dream wedding venue! We wanted something a little different, and we were totally captured by the stunning picture gallery. The flexibility of having the ceremony in a different space to the reception was perfect for us, as we knew we would have a lot of guests, and we knew we wouldn’t be able to rely on the weather for drinks outside. The whole approach to weddings at Paxton was very relaxed & considered- it made what can be a really stressful time for couples super easy and straightforward. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Paxton as a fabulous place to get married and our pictures turned out STUNNING, thanks in large part to the spectacular backdrop.

Small intimate gatherings by the river

The beautiful woodland and tranquil river’s edge bring romance to our rustic Victorian boathouse.

After 20 years together, we decided to tie the knot and The Boat House at Paxton turned out to be the perfect location. The setting on our big day was unreal: spectacular views across the River Tweed and the decoration inside was just magical – not to mention being able to use the entire grounds for photos, although we were having so much fun, we didn’t make it past the zip wire. Mel made the whole process relaxed and stress-free, which is exactly how we wanted our wedding to be. We had the most wonderful day; I would thoroughly recommend Paxton House as a wedding venue whether you are looking to hold a larger wedding in the house or a more intimate wedding by the river. However, we think The Boat House is particularly enchanting.
